Wine, Craft Beverages & Festivals

The Yakima Valley has earned recognition both as a significant winemaking region and the hops capitol of the world.

Wine

More than 100 wineries and vineyards currently call the Yakima Valley home, drawing visitors from around the world for various events.

The summer tourism season in the Valley typically begins in April with the Spring Barrel Tasting event. There are several other major Valley-wide wine events throughout the year, including the Red Wine & Chocolate pairings offered in February. Local wineries participate in the Catch the Crush event in October to celebrate the fall harvest. There’s also the Thanksgiving in Wine Country event to add to your calendar. Those interested in touring local wineries can find a map in the Visitor Guide and at the wineries.

The wineyakimavalley.org website provides links to the individual winery events and specials that are offered throughout the year.

Craft Beverages

As a hops capitol, it should be no surprise that new breweries continue to open. See our map in the Visitor Guide.

Beyond the Hops
It isn’t all about beer and wine, though. With the abundance of agricultural products available for brewers and distillers to use, you can also find hard ciders and distilled beverages around the Yakima Valley.

Festivals
First Friday get-togethers on the first Friday of each month have been gaining more attendees every year. Visitors will find live music, food and drink specials at various establishments during the events in downtown Yakima and at larger events such as the Fresh Hop Ale Festival, Sunnyside Summer Ale Festival and the Moxee Hop Festival.
